Information Security Standard Certificate will encourage development of Baltic Data Center in Lithuania and foreign countries
2009-07-21
International certification company Inspecta Sertification confirmed the validity of the information security standard ISO 27001 certificate for the Baltic Data Center, a leader in the management of data centers and information systems in the Baltic States.
Baltic Data Center belonging to TEO LT, AB Group was the first IT services management company in the Baltic States to receive the certificate and the only company in Lithuania to have the validity of the certificate confirmed for three years in a row by now.
During the audit of the company, 11 fields related with effective operation and information security were inspected: security policies, human resources, physical and environmental protection, purchases, design and maintenance of information systems, access management, management of commercial activity continuity, legal compliance and others.
According to Saulius Markūnas, Director of Baltic Data Center, international security standard is one of the most important prerequisites for successful development of the company in Lithuania and foreign countries. “Lithuanian and international corporations co-operating with us can be confident regarding observation of all information security requirements in our company in Lithuania in the same way, as for example, they are observed in similar companies in Finland or Germany. Therefore, the companies from the above-mentioned countries can entrust their information to us without any worries”, said Mr. Markūnas.
The strictest information security requirements are observed by Baltic Data Center when providing all complex IT management services - from hardware maintenance to design and management of complex systems – to the clients.
ISO/IEC 27001 is an information security management system standard approved by the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in 2005. It replaced and broadened the Great Britain standard BS 7799-2 which was used for seven years before its replacement.
