Based on audited data, the year 2008 revenue of Baltic Data Center, a leader in the management of data centers and information systems in the Baltic States, was LTL 36.4 million and, compared to the revenue for 2007 - LTL 25.6 million, increased by more than 42%.
According to Saulius Markūnas, Director of Baltic Data Center, a company belonging to TEO LT, AB Group of companies, the significant revenue growth was determined by rapid development of services provided by the company and initiated co-operation with the biggest national companies: Maxima LT, Vilniaus duona, Aviva Lietuva, banks SEB and Snoras. The company also continues co-operation with DnB NORD finance group, for which the company is currently implementing the IT infrastructure, ensuring provision of seamless banking services to customers in Denmark, Finland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
"The global economic recession forces companies to consider expenditure reduction and more efficient use of available resources. In order to ensure provision of economically attractive services to our customers, we have invested into our business efficiency enhancement and modern technologies", - S. Markūnas said.
According to him, last year there was a particular growth in provision of standardized IT services for small and medium-sized enterprises, to which Baltic Data Center provided webhosting, e-mail, server collocation, computer rent and other services.
Last year Baltic Data Center set up and equipped one of the most modern in Eastern Europe and the first in Lithuania underground data center facility, complying with the strictest security requirements and protected against electromagnetic pulse.
The number of employees of the company increased by over one third in the course of 2008, and at the present the company employs 185 technology specialists.
This year, the company has become a certified business partner of software company Oracle and one of the first among companies providing IT management services in Lithuania to be conferred the status of Oracle Certified Partner.
In 2008, the company received high evaluation by the global leader in virtual infrastructure solutions VMware - Baltic Data Center was granted the VMware Enterprise Partner status. Virtualisation solutions provided by VMware enable optimum use of available resources, saving of energy, space and costs for system maintenance and support.
Last year, Baltic Data Center was recognised as one of the best IT service providers in Europe. This recognition was received by the company during the awards of the conference Data Centres Europe organised by telecommunication and IT technology consulting company BroadGroup.
